چکیده

from a single spot on the sample surface. Depending on the homogeneity of the sample, the small spot size sampled with the tightly focused laser beam may miss the target material completely. A larger laser beam and sampling aperture can be used to acquire data from a larger spot on the sample surface, but as the aperture size is increased, resolution decreases and the high spectral resolution needed for spectral matching cannot be achieved. ROS sampling overcomes this trade-off between aperture size and resolution by quickly rastering a tightly focused laser beam over a large sample area. This preserves the high resolution of the tightly focused, laser spot used for traditional Raman sampling while improving sensitivity by acquiring data over a larger sample area.

High-speed hyperspectral Raman imaging for label-free compositional microanalysis.

We present high-speed hyperspectral Raman imaging with integrated active-illumination for label-free compositional microanalysis. We show that high-quality Raman spectra can be acquired from as many as ~1,000 spots/sec semi-randomly distributed among a ~100x100 μm(2) area without mechanical scanning. We demonstrate rapid data acquisition from three types of samples: 1) uniform, strong Raman sca...

Evaluation of Raman spectroscopic macro raster scans of native cervical cone biopsies using histopathological mapping.

Raman spectroscopy based discrimination of cervical precancer and normal tissue has been shown previously in vivo with fiber probe based measurements of colposcopically selected sites. With a view to developing in vivo large area imaging, macro raster scans of native cervical cone biopsies with an average of 200 spectra per sample are implemented (n=16). The diagnostic performance is evaluated ...

A RIGOROUS COMPARISON OF METHODS FOR MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES PURIFICATION USING RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT’s) were synthesized using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method in a fluidized bed reactor under the flow of methane and hydrogen gases. A Cobalt-molybdenum/magnesium oxide (Co-Mo/MgO) nanocatalyst was used as the catalyst of the process. The samples were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. The effects of d...

Local raster scanning for high-speed imaging of biopolymers in atomic force microscopy.

A novel algorithm is described and illustrated for high speed imaging of biopolymers and other stringlike samples using atomic force microscopy. The method uses the measurements in real-time to steer the tip of the instrument to localize the scanning area over the sample of interest. Depending on the sample, the scan time can be reduced by an order of magnitude or more while maintaining image r...

Status of the 3D-online motion compensation system for ion therapy

Introduction Scanned ion beam techniques proved to be an accurate method in radiation therapy with a high degree of conformity [1]. Since 1997 the carbon ion treatment unit at GSI has treated more than 330 patients with stationary tumours using a raster scanning system. In case of moving organs, however, it is necessary to mitigate interplay between organ motion and scanned beam. In order to ac...
